My Sinulog 2012 Week

Procession
One of the most anticipated event during sinulog week is the procession, where-in the replica of the holy child Jesus statue is sent out to church for a walk. The sinulog organizers are responsible for the route of the procession. The procession will start with a set of different group of devotees or religious group and the last one will be the holy child Jesus statue being carried on a truck. Most tourist and other people who are not part of the procession wait the holy child Jesus statue to pass by on the route. People watching the procession waves their hands as the holy child Jesus pass by and join the procession behind the child Jesus.

It was my first time to follow the holy child Jesus statue, we (my girl, sister and mother) started walking at LandBank near University of San Carlos Main up to the bag-ong dan road. We didn’t finish the procession and we headed straight home. It was a tiring but satisfying day for me and a blessed disguise as a good exercise for me.

SRA 17
It is an underground gig for hardcore, punk and metal core music genres. It happens every third Saturday of January. After attending the procession, me and my girl went to watch my friend (Weigner) performing on SRA 17, there were new crowd faces and new bands attending to the event. I didn’t realize that its been 17th years the underground group existed. That time when I met Weigner as a colleague it was only the 8th year of SRA. For the past years, I’ve met and know new friends in Weigner’s SRA circle.

Sinulog day
I got bored watching street dancing and over the years it become too commercialized. The thing I enjoy most during the sinulog day is the street party and watching the float trucks. Usually, I walk from our house up to the uptown, but last Sunday I bring the car and park it in Ayala mall. It took 45 minutes to park the car. Ayala mall was also a blast, a lot of people are inside the mall just for AC not for shopping. Others quench their thirst and do chit-chat with their friends. In our end with my girl, we walk to uptown to watch sinulog and when we got bored we go to one of my friend’s house somewhere in Baseline. Baseline has always been a trademark for sinulog street party, where locals drinks and dance in the street. It was my girl first time to witness at my friend’s house where people just party drink and dance. It was fun and it was good to see old friends get drunk and party.

Welcome 2012

Last year 2011 was a lazy one for me, no major updates in terms of career, business and self improvement. The last productive year I had was 2007, after that I loose sight into my plans that I wanted to achieve. Consistent blogging was one of the plans that I loose, loosing weight was another one and the list goes on. This year again, I will make a promise to myself to be more productive and not to loose sight on the plans I wanted to achieve.

I hope I will not be dismay on my plans that I will be setting for this year. Below are my general plans:
  • Stability - full restart or shall we say start from scratch
  • Physical fitness - be reminded on the cause and effect and self-discipline
  • Spiritual aspect - to be consistent on my beliefs and faith
  • Career - stay away from politics and think positive always
  • Relationship - consistent to have time to the people I care and love
  • Entrepreneurship - don’t loose hope, always find something to achieve with
  • Skill set development - find ways to learn new things in my field
I hope this year will be a different one, I look forward to a fruitful year in work, relationship, spiritual worship, knowledge skills and more adventures to come. Happy new year to everyone reading my blog and to all people in the world.
